Buyer's Regret | Roberta di Camarino Tie

Share
No, not in the sense of buying something I didn't truly want. I'm talking about finding something that's perfect, except that someone has already destroyed it. This always happens at thrift stores-- I find amazing fashion artifacts that some negligent boob has ruined and I mourn. "I would have given you a good home!"

Take for instance this beyond amazing Roberta di Camerino neck tie. Among myriad other achievements, di Camerino popularized whimsical illustrated fashion prints. This tie has an adorable belt print, with the signature knotted "R" at the tip. The inside is lined in black and white belt-print. Its lovely, but its also beyond hope, torn on the back and stained up and down the front like someone ran out of Charmin.

I'm sending it to my pen pal who makes wrist cuffs and bow ties from vintage fabrics-- I hope she's be able to use it somehow!
