After weeks, nay months of waiting, the J. Crew wool patchwork jacket that I was dying for finally showed up on eBay. Originally retailing for a cool $500 (way too much for my occasional-freelancer budget), I scored it for just $49.99. The concession I made (and this is a big one) is that it's a size 42 and I'm a size 38-39. Luckily, I happen to know an extremely talented tailor-- he once cut down a size 44 camel coat to fit me.
