Having been shopping at thrift stores since before I was born--you should see some of the wild outfits my grandmother put together for me--I'm well acquainted with the heartbreak of finding the perfect shirt or jacket or tie and then realizing some slob dripped soup down the front. Thanks to people like Martha Stewart, who maintains a
stain removal guide, I've become more adventuresome with my purchases and had lots of luck restoring vintage items to nearly new condition.
So I was thrilled to read in the new
Lucky magazine that eucalyptus oil could remove pen marks from cottons and woven fabrics, but I was skeptical. Oil on cotton?! Crazy talk. But I headed to
Whole Body and picked up a bottle and gave it a try with an old t-shirt and a Bic. Let me tell you, it works amazingly well. The stain is completely gone and I have a new ammunition in my stain arsenal.
