You'll often find me in one of two places on a given Saturday--either at the Chelsea flea markets, where I will inevitably leave with at least one pair of vintage eyeglass frames, or at the Sol Moscot shop at 14th and Sixth having said frame refitted with sunglass lenses. Its the only way I can find to avoid the outlandish prices of new retro frames and not walk around with someone else's name on the sides of my head.
The folks at Allyn Scura must feel the same way--they've created the best vintage-inspired frames you can find online. And while they look vintage, the materials and construction are entirely new, with flexible hinges, non-rusting metal and sturdy frames. My favorites are the Legend, far right--v. James Dean in New York.
