Washed Corduroy Sport Coat

Share
FALL PREVIEW More often than not, I find shopping at a J. Crew store or flipping through the catalog an exercise in frustration. While the women's side of things produces of-the-moment designs that are well-made and affordable, the men's area continues its three-year trend of being the same old thing week after week, month after month.

Topsiders, check. Red Wing boots, check. Secret Wash shirts, check. Selvedge jeans, check. Faux vintage Timex, check. You see where I'm going? The only new direction I spotted in the fall catalog was the return (again) of men's suiting. Read the business section lately, guys?

The washed corduroy sport coat is a glimmer of hope. The tailored fit with double-vent back and three-button front looks promising, the color seems just right and, most importantly, it is an actual new design. Let's see if they can keep this train moving.
