The folks at LL Bean pride themselves on their classic designs, as well they should. The Camp Blucher, introduced by L.L. Bean himself in 1936, has been a staple in my closet for not quite as long. They take the place of my Topsiders as the go-to shoe when the weather cools down.
The Blucher has gotten a slight update this fall with dark laces and a choice of tan suede or distressed leather (shown here) that's even more rugged looking than the original. All the original details are intact-- channel-grooved rubber sole for wet sidewalks and a flexible upper that won't leave your feet in shreds if you go sockless.
