DIY PREP When I saw the new Duckie Brown take on the traditional Florsheim wingtips, the crafter inside me (thanks, Grandma) screamed "I can do that!" I like the colorful spin on a design that's often regarded as being rather dowdy, but at $395 a pop, I won't be buying a pair any time soon.
But, for about $9.99, I can pick up a pair of good leather wingtips at the Salvation Army (the more worn and broken-in, the better). For another $6, I'll pickup a can of NuLife leather spray color-- a hardy paint that will withstand years of use and abuse. My goal is to have a pair of canary yellow wingtips by month's end. You'll be the first to see them.
