THE BASICS Its tough sometimes to pull off prep style without looking like you're wearing a Halloween costume. So many of the standards have negative associations, people assume I'm being subversive when I wear my patchwork madras jacket or pink penny loafers. I've found that the easiest way to be prep without getting pointed at is to be subtle.
Take this great blazer from Urban Outfitters. Its a little more trim and modern than Grandad's, and the crest doesn't show off an actual school affiliation. I'd pair it with chino shorts and fli-flops for a "what-this-old-thing?" look.
