A friend of a friend in college used to say "Go ugly early, cuz you will later." She was talking about meeting people at bars, but the design folks at Harper's Bazaar seem to have taken this mantra to heart with their new cover design. Times are tough for print media, so I guess Glenda Bailey et al have decided to just go ladies'-service-magazine-ugly early and shower Gwyneth Paltrow with corny headlines in past-prime typefaces.
