I don't shop for shoes anymore. I'm more or less self-employed/freelance, so not only should I not spend the money, but I'm not doing a lot of to-and-fro walking anyway. But all those justifications for thriftiness went out the door when I saw these dazzlers.
Made by Donald J. Pliner, each loafer is hand-beaded in a replication of a custom carpet in his own home. That kind of stuff doesn't usually impress me, but the pattern is just so great. I'm remembering back to when Tom Ford did the luxe hippie collection-- tattered jeans, expensive bags and sandals. This is like that for men.
I'm picturing them with tattered jeans, a white shirt, and navy blazer-- prep student back from Marrakech. The ladies at the post office will love 'em.
