I haven't been very kind to the men's design department of J. Crew lately. Even though they deserve every critical word I've given for their dull, uninspired and oft-repeated designs, I'm going to throw them a bone today. A small one.
I really like the new nylon racer jacket. Inspired by *cough-knocked-off-from-cough* classic racer jackets like the Belstaff Trialmaster and the Barbour International, the belted, multi-pocket design is updated in nylon, making it a great rainwear option.
But why red and who at J. Crew had the gumption to label this as "a collector's item." My vintage Barbour International is a collector's item, an "inspired" knock-off isn't.
Wait, I said I was going to be nice. Oh, well.
