I always find it a bit odd when shops and designers congratulate themselves on a historical date. Its a bit showy, patting yourself on the back for a job well-done and then trotting out "classic" styles to cash-in on the shopper's nostalgia for the gold ol' days.
One recent exception to the rule is the BR30 collection marking Banana Republic's three decades in the rag trade. Revisiting brand-making styles, this group features updated versions of what you've probably bought several times over. But if you don't already have a great raincoat, consider their new interpretation. The four-button trench coat is cut in cotton for lightweight comfort, with a slimmer fit than the original, so you don't run about town looking like a flasher.
