Vans Era Limited Editions

Share

Vogue editor Anna Wintour once said that the best stylists draw upon their childhood memories for creating exciting fashion looks. I'd go one further and say that the best fashion designers do, too. Ask any designer and they have a vivid memory involving fashion and the desired item that got away.

For me, its was the Vans craze of the late 70's and early 80's. It seemed that everyday, one of my classmates was sporting a new design-- pink checkers with Topsider lacing, custom designs with a different color on every panel and always the classic slip ons or laceup Authentics (my personal favorites).

Vans has now issued a limited edition of the Authentics in color combos that I remember from lunch lines past-- blue and yellow, baby blue and navy, and red and blue being the best. The rubber traction soles are intended for skateboards, but work just as well on slippery sidewalks and wet decks.
