Phineas Cole

PREP RANT  Don't get me wrong— I think Paul Stuart's secondary line is just great (despite the made-up name). Its more fashion forward but more traditional at the same time and the mixing of patterns and colors in the online style guide is nothing short of inspired.

My problem (as usual) is the astronomical prices attached to the new line. Really, they put even Ralph Lauren to shame. In the midst of the worst global economic crisis most of us have ever lived in, when the American unemployment rate is reaching double-digits, how many $2400 suits and $200 ties do they expect to sell?

Granted, these trust-fund uniforms are made from the finest fabrics, but I think when a company starts a new line that's supposed to be better than what they're known for, its a sign that they have no idea what they're doing or who their customer is.

As a side note, if you go to the website and click on the link "Who Is Phineas Cole?", you get an error message. Couldn't have said it better.
